The demand for textiles at home and abroad continues to warm up, driving the growth of cotton imports. According to customs statistics of Qingdao, Shandong Port imported 508 thousand tons of cotton in the first 4 months, worth 890 million US dollars, an increase of 1.7 times and 2.7 times compared with the same period last year.

Statistics show that since October last year, the monthly import volume of cotton at Shandong port has increased for the 7 consecutive month, and has reached the highest monthly import volume since March June, reaching 154 thousand tons. Import volume dropped slightly in April, but remained at a high level of 134 thousand tons, an increase of 80.5% over the same period last year. This year, the average monthly import price of cotton at Shandong port has been rising all the way, reaching 1777 US dollars / ton in April, an increase of 41.6% over the same period last year, a record high since April 2004.

Customs analysis believes that the textile industry continues to recover, driving cotton demand growth. In the first quarter, the added value of China's textile industry increased by 13.4% compared with the same period last year, and the export of textile and clothing was 39 billion 250 million yuan, an increase of 15.2%. The output of yarn, cloth and clothing increased well, with an increase of 19.7%, 17.7% and 17.3% respectively. The good situation of the domestic textile industry has led to a substantial increase in demand for cotton. At the same time, the import price of cotton has obvious advantages, and the import power of enterprises is stronger. Since the middle of March, domestic cotton prices have risen rapidly, and domestic and foreign cotton spreads have widened. Imported cotton has certain price advantages, import power of enterprises is strong, and import quota utilization is speeding up.
