14 Clothing Suppliers Detoxify In Water

Environmental protection group Greenpeace recently released a survey report that 14 global clothing brands are currently unable to effectively solve their suppliers' emissions of toxic and harmful substances, resulting in water pollution in China.

It is reported that the investigation report of China's water pollution survey named "fashion poison: the global clothing brand" involves Chinese and foreign clothing brands including:

Nike

Adidas, CK, Lining, Metersbonwe and YOUNGOR 14.

The two suppliers of the brand are YOUNGOR textile industrial city located in the Yangtze River Delta and Zhongshan Guotai dyeing and finishing Co., Ltd. in the Pearl River Delta.

According to the survey, the two suppliers went to the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta respectively.

Water body

A variety of toxic and harmful substances have been emitted.

Alkylphenols (including nonylphenol) were found in wastewater samples from two factories. Perfluorinated compounds (PFC), especially perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), were also found in the samples from YOUNGOR textile industrial city wastewater.

According to the introduction, the European Union has controlled these substances. China listed nonylphenol in the list of strictly restricting import and export of toxic chemicals in January 2011.

YOUNGOR textile industrial city, an event related party, responded this morning: "the content of the report is inconsistent with the facts"; the sewage discharge of textile city is in line with international standards.

In reply to the fax, YOUNGOR said, "YOUNGOR Sino Japan Textile Co., Ltd. will take a serious and responsible attitude towards the problems raised by you and do the relevant work well."

It is reported that Greenpeace investigators in June 2010 and March 2011 went to the YOUNGOR textile industrial city to collect the sewage samples. The two collected sewage samples were then sent to the laboratory of Exeter University in England and the Omegam environmental analysis laboratory in Holland respectively.

The test showed that although the sewage samples were treated by the sewage treatment plant, they still contained a variety of toxic substances.

harmful

Substances, including environmental hormones, nonylphenol and a variety of perfluorinated compounds.

Nonylphenol is an artificial chemical that interferes with hormones.

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) have adverse effects on the liver of rodents and monkeys.

The sewage treatment plant located at the northwest corner of Cathay Pacific dyeing and finishing plant will discharge the treated sewage into the Pearl River Delta through the sewage pipe.

Greenpeace discovered a variety of organic chemicals in sewage samples collected from the Pearl River Delta in June 2010, including two kinds of alkylphenols, including nonylphenol (NP) and octyl phenol (OP).

The danger of NP and OP is that they can imitate natural estrogens and alter the sexual development of some organisms. The most significant one is the feminization of fish.

DNA may also be damaged in human lymphocytes.

In response, Cai Minxu, Metersbonwe's public relations manager, said he plans to adopt a more rigorous green assessment system for all suppliers.
