There is a new vacant seat in the fashion world.

Christopher Lemerre, Herm s, will resign and focus on her clothing brand, ChristopheLemaire.

The fashion show in October will be his last fashion show at Hermes.

Anyway, the news was announced at an interesting time: Hermes has just announced its first half of 2014, and clothing and accessories grew by 16% - higher than the growth of leather goods or silk (of course, the starting point of clothing and accessories is low, but it can not be underestimated).

This raises the question: will the fashion company continue to invest in women's clothing or shrink its front line?

This will be the first real test of this year's chief executive Axel Dumas (AxelDumas) and his brand strategy.

Although Hermes is still widely regarded as a leather and silk brand, Lemerre's recent fashion show has been well received. He is quietly creating a convincing style for this luxury brand, focusing on outstanding fabrics and fashion features.

This seems to be the opposite of the Jean PaulGaultier employed by former chief executive Jean Luis Dumas (Jean-LouisDumas), which is much more colorful than Jean's.

Although Gao Teye has served the brand for seven years from 2003 to 2010, he seems unable to fully adapt to the low-key style established by Martin Margiela, the first fashion designer of Hermes (MartinMargiela, 1997-2003).

Margiela is famous for showing clothes in women's whispers.

Although there are many explanations for "focusing on your own brand", some are good and some are not so good -- but this time it seems to be true.

However, Hermes did not explain too much about what would happen.

This is what Christopher said: "I am very grateful that our passion has enriched our company's expression of women's clothing.

Under the guidance of his art, our women's clothes are aesthetical and new with very satisfactory economic benefits.

I wish his brand a great success, and that brand is very close to his heart.

It's quite good, but it's also very dull.

Will Duma follow his late uncle's strategy to find a famous designer?

This will bring noisy and global praise to the Hermes fashion show (and also increase the cost of the company).

Or will he take a step backward to find a less famous designer who will be more modest in the face of the company's tradition?

Will he completely withdraw from the women's clothing market?

LVMHMot group, which controls 23% of the company's shares so far, seems to be an unknown investor. Will it interfere in this matter?

All kinds of possibilities exist.

It's always a big thing for big fashion companies to change designers, but I have to say this is particularly important.

It is not only because Hermes is a highly praised brand, but also because its next walking energy indicates whether the company thinks fashion show (yes, I deliberately capitalized) is a powerful marketing tool, and this attitude will affect the entire fashion industry.
