Market Trends: The Transition From Textile Demand To Man-Made Fiber Is A Trend

2023/7/13 10:32:00 0

Man-Made Fiber

Synthetic fabrics made of man-made fibers (such as polyester fiber and plant cellulose) are expected to exceed the demand for cotton fabrics in the coming decades.

Factors that change this pattern include population growth, limited cotton production, rising cotton prices, and increased consumer awareness of sustainability.

Compared with natural fiber cotton, man-made fiber has rich usability, durability, affordability, superior mechanical properties and higher stability, making it an attractive choice in the textile industry.

At present, cotton accounts for about 26% of the global textile exports, and the export of polyester and man-made fiber fabrics and other composite products accounts for about 57%. This shows that the situation has changed significantly compared with 2023. At that time, cotton accounted for about 38%, and synthetic fabrics accounted for about 42% of the market share. The global demand for cotton fabrics continues to decrease, indicating an increasing preference for synthetic fiber alternatives.

As an undisputed textile production center, Asia is the base of global manufacturing capacity. China, in particular, has established its position as the world's leading exporter of plant fiber fabrics.

Analysts predict that the export of synthetic fabrics will grow strongly, and the compound annual growth rate is expected to reach 3% in the next five years. By 2027, the global market value of synthetic fabric is expected to reach 87 billion dollars. In 2022, global exports will be worth US $75 billion, in which Asia will play a crucial role.

Over the past 20 years, the global consumption of man-made fabrics has steadily increased at an annual rate of about 5%. This continuous growth makes synthetic fabrics now account for more than half of the global fabric market.

As Asia is ready to meet the growing global demand for textiles, the shift to man-made fibers seems to be a long-term trend. Research shows that the future of the global synthetic fabric market is limitless in view of the continuous progress of man-made fabrics and Asia's unparalleled manufacturing capacity.
