Dominican Republic last year processing area Spin Product export growth 25.6%


Jos Benedicto Hern ndez, vice president of the Dominican Export Processing Committee, said that in 2012, there were 134 thousand and 226 job opportunities in the processing export area, up 7.3% from 125 thousand and 117 in 2011, of which 50.2% were women and 49.8% were men.

Compared with 53 thousand and 398 in 2011, most of the manufacturers, employment opportunities and exports in the national processing export area are concentrated in the northern region.


In 2012, the processing export area of Dominican operation was 53, an increase of 3.9% over 2011, of which 47% was concentrated in the north, 24% in the capital and Santo Domingo Province, 17% in the south, and the other 11.3% in the East. There are 584 manufacturers in operation, of which 47.9% are in the north, 24.7% in the capital and Santo Domingo, 14% in the South and 12.8% in the East. Products in the export processing area are diversified. Besides textiles, they also produce footwear and jewellery, while producing medical products and equipment as the main export products.
